New York City EDM fans are in for a midweek treat this Wednesday and Thursday night with back to back performances by Avicii at the iconic Radio City Music Hall. Most of us who explore the genre over social media have seen a meme playing on Avicii’s popularity among a younger age group. The text reads “Says her favorite artist is Avicii, doesn’t know who Tim Berg is” …usually over a backdrop of 1 (or many) neon clad, seemingly underage girls. On Wednesday and Thursday this week, the crowd will still be a sea of neon, and still greatly underage (this event is 16+) But many will learn who Tim Berg actually is. In what is being described as one of his greatest accomplishments to date, Berg (short for Bergling) will be the first-ever EDM artist to perform at Radio City. The high profile gig is fit for the recently-turned 23 year old Swedish DJ/Producer, who enjoys spots #10 and #6, on Forbes highest Grossing DJs and the DJMAG top 100, respectively. As he approaches the tail end of 2012, its hard not to notice Avicii’s accomplishments which have propelled him further into EDM stardom; Throwing a huge New York City New Years eve Bash, launching his Levels tour, and headlining festivals such as Ultra, Coachella, EDC, and Lollapalooza, all while producing hit tracks like “Silhouettes” and “Superlove” with Lenny Kravitz.
If all the above hype has not driven you to grab a ticket for one of this week’s shows, then perhaps you should consider the futuristic production featured on this tour. Projections, dynamic lighting, and lasers, surrounding a larger than life DJ Booth/Platform from which Tim controls the crowd, is surely a sight even the best picture could no do justice. It’s not too late to be a part of the experience, tickets for Wednesday night’s show are still available HERE.
